Mitrovic says Luka Jovic is going through a crisis at Real Madrid
Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic believes compatriot Luka Jovic is experiencing a crisis at Real Madrid. The Serbia international made the big-money move to the Bernabeu from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but he has since struggled to impress with just two goals from 24 appearances across all competitions.
Of course, Jovic has played second fiddle to Karim Benzema for most of the campaign and Mitrovic sympathises with his compatriot, having experienced a similar situation at former club Newcastle United. He added that Jovic has plenty of time ahead in his career and he will have to deal with the pressure of playing for an elite club like Real Madrid.
He told: "He's in a sort of crisis. When you are a striker, the most important thing is to be on the pitch. I don't think he has had many opportunities. I was in that situation at Newcastle. You only have five, 10, 15 minutes, and in the time you try and do what you can to prove your worth, especially when you have cost a lot of money. You want to do everything and it burns you out. Playing for Real Madrid brings a lot of pressure, responsibility and all that, but he is young and he has a lot of seasons and football ahead."
Jovic has already been linked with a potential move away from the Spanish capital and reports claim that he could make the switch to the Premier League. Arsenal have been credited with a loan move for his services but it remains to be seen whether they can lure him to the Emirates Stadium. The north London outfit have a good working relationship with Los Blancos and they were able to loan Daniel Ceballos last summer. The Spaniard has made 24 appearances for them this season, contributing one goal and two assists. He has been fancied to return to the Bernabeu as the Gunners are unlikely to meet the £44m price tag to sign him permanently.
