Pusetto pleased with Watford’s shock win over Liverpool

Watford attacker Ignacio Pusetto has expressed his delight after the Hornets were able to register a shock but convincing win over Liverpool in the Premier League. Nigel Pearson’s side had gone into the Reds game with a five-match winless league run but they managed to end the streak with a super display against the European champions.
The opening half saw Troy Deeney squander a clear-cut chance to find the back of the net but it appeared that the Hornets could rue the missed opportunity. However, that was not the case, as Ismaila Sarr scored twice for the Hornets before the hour mark while Deeney put the game to bed with the third goal in the 72nd minute.

Argentine winger Pusetto was called on to replace Sarr for the final 10 minutes but he was certainly pleased with the surprise result, he told TyC: “Super happy for the win. We were having a bad time and against a great rival we could get a great triumph. People could not believe it.

We knew we could face a Liverpool that in this last time wasn’t the best. We took advantage of the mistakes that they made, we were focused, we didn’t let them think at any time.”
Watford have jumped to the 17th spot on the table ahead of Bournemouth on goal difference. The victory over the Reds should greatly boost their confidence and manager Pearson will be hoping that the players will show the same level of intensity when they face Crystal Palace on the road on Saturday.

Watford have had the edge over the Eagles over the past few years and they are unbeaten during the previous five meetings with three wins and two draws. One of those stalemates during the Christmas period last year after a 0-0 score at Vicarage Road.
