JOL WANTS A STRIKER

Fulham manager Martin Jol has revealed that he will be looking to sign another striker in the January transfer window.

However, it is thought that Martin Jol wants the striker at Fulham, as he expects both Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson to leave the January transfer window. The manager has reportedly fell out with the pair, which means that they will be allowed to leave within the end of this month.

Andrew Johnson leaving the club has been more or less confirmed because the former Everton striker is out of contract at the end of the season. Bobby Zamora, meanwhile, is thought to be unhappy with the way he has been treated by the new manager.

It is thought that QPR and Tottenham are interested in signing the international, who is regarded as one of the best strikers outside the top four. Fulham have been watching the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Billy Sharp, Nicky Maynard and Andre-Pierre Gignac, although manager Martin Jol recently confirmed that only one will be arriving at Fulham.

“We have got all the strikers and all the good players in all the divisions on our radar. There is one striker from the lower leagues [we are interested in] and I don’t even want to speculate on that because he is pretty expensive. I don’t think there will be a deal there,” Martin Jol told reporters ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

Martin Jol has largely been disappointing since his arrival at the start of the season, but he will be hoping that his signings will push Fulham up the table.

The London-based club are thought to have turned away deadline day advances from Liverpool, as the Reds were on the lookout for a striker owing to the over reliance on Fernando Torres.

This comes as a remarkable turnaround in the England international’s career, as Fulham had accepted an offer from Hull City for the player last summer – only for the forward to turn down the move in the hope of proving his mettle at the Cottage.
