FULHAM GRAB A POINT

Arsenal were one of the form teams going into the match against Fulham, but they couldn't help losing another two points against their fellow Londoners, Fulham.

Fulham have been taking points off Arsenal in the last few seasons and the 1-1 draw should not be surprising at all. However, Arsenal have been coming into the match as one of the unbeaten teams, and were the clear favourites.

Fulham showed a lot of courage to get on the lead through an own goal – courtesy of Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian defender, though, managed to correct his mistake by scoring at the other end as well to rescue a point for Arsenal.

Wojciech Szczesny said after the match that Arsenal were unlucky to get all three points, although he did give credit to Fulham for defending with great resilience. After the match, Arsenal's young goalkeeper said "Of course, we are disappointed not to come away with all three points. I thought we played very well, and our attitude was fantastic. You have to give credit to Fulham - they defended well towards the end and their goalie Mark Schwarzer made a few fantastic saves. I think we needed a few more minutes to win the game."

The arrival of a few players in the final day of the transfer window seems to have made all the difference for Arsenal. Even though Arsenal dropped two points, they can take a lot of positives out of the match according to Szczesny. Arsenal are now just two points behind Chelsea who are in the fifth position, although they are quite far back with regards to winning the title from here on.
