Aleksandar Mitrovic reveals a Snapchat message helped to push through Fulham move

Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has revealed that a Snapchat message from Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic helped to seal his short-term move to Craven Cottage prior to last month's transfer deadline. The Serbia international joined the west London side on loan for the campaign after his return to Anderlecht collapsed on the final day of the transfer window.

Speaking to The Times, the Newcastle revealed that the Cottagers head coach had rang him in the morning, only to find that he is on the cusp of a return to Anderlecht. However, Mitrovic's move to the Belgian outfit fell through later in the day, and this re-established the player's connection with the manager via Snapchat.

Despite joining the Cottagers, Mitrovic is aware that he will have to behave properly if he is to stake a claim for place in the starting lineup, he said: "Slavisa has told me not to do stupid things, he says I have to put my passion into scoring goals, not to do some crazy tackles. I understand this and agree with him."
Mitrovic struggled to establish himself as a regular under Rafael Benitez at St James Park, and he is now looking forward to earning some game time with the Cottagers, who are presently one of the in-form sides in the Championship, vying for top-flight promotion.

The 23-year-old has also been a key player with the Serbian national side, and the regular first-team football will enhance his chances of commanding a starting role at the summer World Cup finals, where the nation have been paired in a tricky group involving Brazil, Switzerland and Costa Rica.

Serbia finished their World Cup qualifying campaign at the top of their group, and their next challenge lies on making an impression on the global stage with a number of their first-team players making a name for themselves across Europe.
