Magath Confirms Loan Players Will Leave

Fulham manager Felix Magath has confirmed that it is highly likely that loan players like Darren Bent will leave the club at the end of the season. The former Aston Villa man came to the club on a season-long loan deal, but he failed to prevent Fulham from getting relegated to the Championship. Since the club will not be able to support the wages of a player like Bent, it is looking likely that the club will not look into converting this deal into a permanent one. The former Charlton and Tottenham striker has struggled for form in recent years.

Along with the expected departure of Bent, it looks like Fulham will also not make any effort towards keeping out of the midfielder Lewis Holtby. The German international started the Fulham career in surprisingly good fashion, but his performances towards the end of the season were so poor that he is now return to Tottenham. Bent, meanwhile, has managed only three goals since his loan move from Aston Villa. He spent the entire season at Craven cottage. Fulham have already parted ways with a number of key players like Steven Sidwell, who had decided not to extend their contract after the club’s relegation.

Magath said that he is targeting an immediate return to the Premier league with Fulham. "I think they go back because they're not only loan players but players with high quality and high wages. We have to look at the money and take care of the money. I think we're not able to pay such players. We are looking for young players and you have two ways to be successful. One way is spend more and the other is spend less and work harder," said the Fulham manager.

Despite having more than 10 matches, he failed to keep the club in the top division.
