FULHAM SLIP FURTHER

Fulham have been slipping down the table due to their poor form in the last few months. The once again suffered a defeat in the recent match against Manchester United to put the team in the precarious position of 13th.

They are just seven points above the relegation zone, but the manager Martin Jol has said that he is confident that results will come over the next few matches. Fulham came extremely close to snatching a point from the match against the Premier league leaders, but they were ultimately denied by a late goal from the star striker Wayne Rooney.

Fulham came into the match on the back of a 3-1 morale boosting victory over West Ham United in the midweek action. They played Manchester United only last week in the fourth round of the FA Cup. It was a match that they lost 4-1, but Jol was looking to take advantage of the home advantage in this match. Even though he was displeased with the way his team failed to score goals in the match, Jol said that he is confident that results will improve. Rooney scored in the 79th minute to give United points that took them 10 points clear at the top of the table.

"The line between failure and success is unbelievably thin and we could have had more points, but we could have had less as well. Hopefully we will pick up a few wins as soon as possible to get out of our current situation. We did well in midfield and at the back. It was one of our better performances this season. But they are capable of creating something out of nothing, as Rooney did. Now, I think they will win it," said Jol after the 1-0 defeat. Fulham will be making the away trip to Norwich next weekend.
